Millions of people around the world are celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights.

This special time of year symbolises the triumph of light over darkness, hope over despair, and knowledge over ignorance. For those in our care, as well as our staff, this message of renewal and positivity resonates deeply.

Diwali is traditionally celebrated with the lighting of oil lamps, or diyas, to invite light and blessings into homes and communities. For us at Mildmay, this concept symbolises the hope and healing we strive to bring to everyone who walks through our doors. As a hospital that has been at the forefront of pioneering HIV/AIDS care, we know how crucial hope and community are in overcoming life’s greatest challenges.

This week, our chaplaincy is leading the way in honouring the spirit of Diwali to bring together our diverse staff and patients, fostering a sense of togetherness and celebration. Our team is committed to supporting every individual who comes to us for care, embracing the rich diversity of cultures and traditions that make our community stronger.

From everyone at Mildmay, we wish you all a joyful and peaceful Diwali. May this festival bring light, love, and new beginnings into your lives.
