Nutrition is an essential part of our patients' recovery process, especially for those managing complex conditions such as HIV or substance abuse recovery.
Our specialist dietitian and catering team carefully plan every meal to meet the specific medical needs and preferences of each patient.
However, our previous system of delivering meals using a multi-compartment trolley created challenges. Sometimes patients received the wrong meals or requested additional portions, which affected their recovery plans. This not only undermined the work of our dietitian but also led to food waste and potential health complications.
To solve these issues, we have just this morning taken delivery of a new and, unfortunately, rather expensive heated food cabinet. However, this substantial piece of equipment allows us to deliver pre-plated meals directly from the kitchen to each patient on the ward ensuring portion control, adherence to diet and nutrition plans, and reduced food waste, all while maintaining the perfect serving temperature for each meal.
The photo above is of Clive, one of our dedicated catering team, embarking on the lunch service with our old (and ready for retirement) food trolley. Unfortunately, the new heated cabinet arrived too late for serving today’s lunch, but it will be cleaned and ready to go for this evening's dinner service!
This advancement is part of our ongoing commitment to provide the highest standard of care and to support our patients in their recovery journey.
If you would like to help us continue improving our services and investing in essential equipment, please consider donating to our Winter Appeal (which is very close now to the £50,000 target) and our Hospital Equipment Fund.
Your support makes a real and lasting difference in the health and wellbeing of our patients.
