International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW): Protecting Public Health

International Infection Prevention Week banner

From October 13-19, we celebrate International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW), a global initiative highlighting the critical importance of infection prevention and control in healthcare settings.

Infection prevention professionals (IPs) play a vital role in safeguarding public health, and their work is more essential than ever as we continue to battle infectious diseases worldwide.

At Mildmay Hospital, we understand that infection prevention is at the heart of quality healthcare. Our commitment to patient safety means strict infection control measures are always in place to prevent the spread of infections.

In our specialist HIV care, where patients often have complex needs and compromised immune systems, infection prevention is a critical part of what we do. Our dedicated team ensures that strict infection control measures are integrated into every aspect of care, from patient admission to discharge. We also collaborate with partners to ensure that best practices in infection prevention are adhered to across the healthcare continuum.

Infections can have a severe impact on patient recovery and health outcomes, which is why infection prevention efforts are crucial in creating safer, healthier communities.

This International Infection Prevention Week, let’s acknowledge and thank the IPs whose work saves lives every day.
