Today, July 1st, marks the anniversary of the birthday of Diana, Princess of Wales, a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark on the world.

As we reflect on her legacy, we fondly recall her 17 visits to our hospital, where she brought about profound change, breaking through the stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS. Through her unwavering support and compassion, Princess Diana helped transform the lives of countless individuals affected by these conditions. More personally, we remember the love and kindness she showed to both our patients and staff on numerous occasions.

Diana's involvement helped change how the world viewed HIV and AIDS. She showed that people living with the virus were not to be feared but to be treated with compassion and understanding. Her visits to Mildmay helped to raise awareness of the disease and its impact on individuals and families. She also helped to raise funds for our hospital, which has allowed us to continue our work providing high-quality care to people living with HIV and AIDS.

At the Forefront of HIV Treatment and Rehabilitation:

Today, Mildmay remains at the forefront of HIV treatment and rehabilitation, thanks in part to Princess Diana's unwavering support. Our charitable hospital provides comprehensive rehabilitation, treatment, and care for individuals with various conditions, including complex and severe HIV-related disorders such as HIV-associated brain impairment, also known as HIV-Associated Neurocognitive Disorder (HAND). Our commitment to excellence in HIV care is a testament to the lasting impact Princess Diana had on our organisation.

Caring for people who are homeless:

In addition to our work with HIV patients, Mildmay is actively engaged in supporting individuals experiencing homelessness or rough sleeping. We offer inpatient care for homeless patients who have transitioned from acute care, providing them with medical treatment and rehabilitation. Our dedicated team delivers safe and effective care, focusing on recovery and addressing the unique needs of those who sleep rough or are at risk of returning to the streets. Through our efforts, we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of this vulnerable population.
